The crankcase ventilation valve is an important component of an engine's crankcase ventilation system. It ensures that excess gases entering the crankcase during combustion are safely vented from the engine. This prevents excessive pressure from building up inside the engine.

During engine operation, so-called blow-by gases escape past the piston rings into the crankcase. The crankcase ventilation valve – often also called a PCV valve (Positive Crankcase Ventilation) – directs these gases back into the engine's intake system, where they can be burned again. This not only regulates the pressure in the crankcase but also reduces pollutant emissions.
